I have been using those folks for about 6 months (since May 2002), after a carefull research of ISP offering servlet hosting.
I needed :
Servlets/JSP with the latest Tomcat rev, Lots of disk space, Lots of bandwith,
Lots of emails, Capability to have many domains hosted.
I found it all there for a decent price; they have a $30 plan, and a $60 plan; I use the $60 plan, with 3GB of disk, up to 10 domains, unlimited emails, 30GB monthly bandwitdh.
Their support is only by email, and perldesk, but they are very responsive, and always got my critical problem submissions solved within a half day.
The management of the account is made through the web based Cpanel and is straight forward. For more complex stuff, they are always available to help you (ie duplicating a domain, with all its settings and email accounts, ...)
As far as availability, the service went down about four times over the last 6 months, for about 1 hour up to 12 hours for the longest outage. Definitely something I can live with. The IT department of the fortune 500 company I worked for was nowhere close to that score!
I highly recommend them.
And no, I am not working for them, I am just a happy customer.
Very awesome provider!

These guys have been very supportive and patient with me as I go through my learning curve introducing myself to JSP/Servlet technologies, Tomcat, JDBC and other things that I've had to learn and adapt to.
They answer technical questions quickly and deal with issues in a very reponsive fashion.
Great ISP.

We were with Assorted Internet for about a year. Things went fine until suddenly we began having problems almost every week.
During one "upgrade", our site was down 60% of the time in the month of June 2006. We were refunded our money that month, but we lost a lot of traffic. The techs would fix one problem, but then 3 others would come up. I filed so many trouble tickets that sometimes instead of describing the problem, I would just say something like "this problem is the same one as I described in ticket #ZZZZZZZ."
Also, some of their techs were not impressive. One time, my webapp didn't have the correct permissions to write to the work directory where JSPs were compiled into. The tech guy said that I had to manually create the generated Java file (from a JSP) in the work directory. Unbelievable. Only after pointing the tech to some online documentation about my problem was he/she able to fix it.
Early on I was impressed with this company, but after 6 months of problems we gave them the boot.
Awful support and billing, bottom of the barrel.

Within a couple years of hosting with AssortedInternet, and with confirmation of payment, they've disabled our website without notice. The worst part? They don't respond to support emails or phone calls for over a week now, so the issue remains unfixed, and our data remains hostage.
