Excellent Linux virtual private server support

I ended up at Rimu after trying several other hosting services and running into continuing problems with reliability and support. Rimu provides exactly what I was looking for, with Linux virtual private servers (full root access, you configure how you want) for less than you'd pay elsewhere just for a private JVM. They also have extensive howto docs on their site that can help you with your setup if you're not a Linux expert.
Don't be put off by the New Zealand headquarters location, they've got support in the US and their actual servers are here, too (at least the ones they use for their US customers). I've been impressed the few times that I've had to contact them on a support issue that I got a very fast response at any time, night or day.

Some time ago I submitted a good review of kattare.com, but this one stands at a higher level. Thanks to the VPS technology, now I can really exploit the benefits of server-side Java. Now I pay less to get more. Kattare is good, but when my webapp started to be bigger, some problems arose. For example, my webapp was restarted every three days. Customer support told me that it depended on my webapp. Now it runs fine and everything is under my control.
Support is great and competent. I really want to recommend this service!

I've done business with Rimu for several months now, and am quite pleased with the price and service.
Tech support is fast and responsive, and competent.
I have an Ubuntu image that allows me to deploy publicly addressable services quickly.
I've run Tomcat, mysql, JXTA and other oddments on thei virtual server, and I honestly can't tell the difference between this virtual box and my home desktop Ubuntu system. Rimu just works, and works like you'd expect it to.

I was a little hesitant to move from the shared hosting I'd always used, to a Virtual Private Server, but I wanted more control over my websites and the for the same price as many shared accounts Rimu gives me root access to an entire virtual box. I can install and run all the web applications I need, anytime I want.
I only wish I could give 10 stars for the support. Their website is full of useful tutorials and you can tell they really enjoy what they do.
