Excellent service and pricing.
This is THE place for JSP and Servlets hosting, they have nubmer of facilities and a team of support staff not like other hosts who are ran by one person or so. Very flexible to requests and responsive.

4java is one of best for java hosting. I use theirs Private tomcat package over a half of year, and it's my 3rd host company, nobody else meet my needs as they do. Also, great support which helps me a lot (they really knows what java/tomcat is, not like others which offer java hosting but they don't really know how it works).

Good environment to try my applications. Reliable and friendly support. Very fast servers and connection, not like other hosts where my apps would not run as fast as there. Would recommend any time.

these guys have fast servers which I like. I use struts in my applications and they support it. I use my package mainly for educational purposes and plan to deploy my website live on their servers.
Thanks,

I have used 4Java since 2003.Email support is very good, I even received responses on Sunday morning. (They provide 24/7 support). They are good what they do. I have no complains. If you are looking for an ISP/hosting service, you should consider this one.

Support response time allways within few hours, even late hours :) I've noticed only one server down time over a period of allmost 2 years. I also received some free help with setting up my first app. Would be nice if the account came with a simple, working example of a jsp/MySQL connection, but if you consider there is no setup fee, you can't expect too much.
Excellent Support, Performance, Value.

Do only choose 4java if you are absolutely 100% sure you don't need them and if you don't really care if you can't get your site up' running without their help.
On the front page they claim: 24/7 support. In 16 of 14 hours a day this is implemented by access to an online contact-form that is answered up to 16 hours later.

In 4 Java there is not a support team...working as they claim.
You open a ticket and you need to wait seated because maybe if they wants will reply until the next day!!!
The last post is a truth, if you can alone, perfect, but if you need support this hosting is not for you.

I signed up for the Private Tomcat hosting plan ($18/month) about 2 years ago, and so far have been pretty happy with the quality of the service.
Let's face it: we, Java folks, are confined to a much smaler hosting market than the general PHP public, and as such we have to choose between plans that are both expensive and limited.
When I was shopping around, 4Java's offerings were among the best on the market, so I went for it (by the way, many thanks to this website for helping me make an informed decision - great resource, Jason!). As time went by, things became even better: now they offer unlimited websites/domains, 40 GB of traffic abd 5 GB of disk space. Now let's do some math: 40 GB roughly translates to more than a million hits per month, and if you have such a busy website, it would be a shame not to be able to make enough cash on the traffic to cover the hosting expenses :)
I gave the Quality of Support a 4 mark, because while being pretty knowledgeable, their support team does not always respond right away. It is not too bad, mind you: they usually respond within a few hours, and almost always within 24 hours, but since they claim to be 24/7, I withdrew one point.
However, overall they are great guys, they know their stuff, and they are flexible and responsive (for example, I recently had to upgrade to Java 5 and Tomcat 5.5, and they did it for me almost immediately).
Bottom line: an inexpensive Java hosting well worth the money.

These guys are apparently reviewing themselves all over the place. No one in their right mind would use this service. In two months I have experienced numerous outages, unannounced migrations where data gets lost, unannounced configuration changes. Their support sucks. Today after my site was down for a lengthy period, I discovered that I'd been migrated to a new server. In the process, 8 days of site updates and web calendar updates went missing. I'm still waiting for this to be resolved. They haven't even acknowledged the problem.
Stay away if you know what's good for you. They're terrible. You keep hoping that it will get better and it never does.
Very professional guys. Pleasure to work with.

These guys are very professional. I don't agree with the post before me. It is a pleasure to work with this company. I now host serveral Tomcats with them and have a couple dedicated boxes.
The Tomcat packages have good features. I have an app running all the latest technologies including Hibernate/Struts. The app is running great. I used the Tomcat packages for our production acceptance testing before we move them off to big boxes.
Support response time is about 3-4 hours per request. During business hours they have live chat so some of my issues are resolved there.
My dedicated servers are top notch. Dual CPUs and large SCSI drives with redundant power supplies. They had two new boxes from Dell factory installed for me, which I love. Some hosts would give you some recycled boxes to run your mission critical apps on.
Pricing overall is good, I pay premium for my boxes but the network is good so I don't mind plus I have a piece of mind as those guys manage the boxes for me.
Overall: I recommend and I hope they keep up the good job.
Regards,
Roger

What can I say... I really have no words to describe my pain having hosted with these guys.
Being the optimist I am, I would always say it could be worst...
Well I was right, it did get worst, to the point were my DB was just blown away because under the
"we didn't know you were using it" excuse (come on give me a break!!!) and 5 days later after having
sent email after email during the week, having chatted online (presales told me to "open a ticket", I said another one?, what a joke) nothing....
Never in my live have I encountered a service provider of such low caliber that just ignores emails from customers
and the problems that their pure neglicence and lack of attention to detail cause them.
After being offline for close to a week we have lost 10 paying customers so far because they said
"you should have better hosting" and have had to offer the rest free memberships.
It is just ridiculuous and the anger inside of me is just way too much to express in words.
Honestly, don't know how these people go to bed at night knowing how screwed up a trail they are leaving behind.
I'm starting to think that hosting from my own house is more reliable that these guys have always been,
heck my house server has never gone down...
Finally 24/7 means that the email system works 24/7 and you can get an answer within 24 days or 7 weeks whichever
is sooner, if not later (sarcasm!!).
I'm curious what timezone these guys are in since most of the time when you sleep they might up, otherwise always off!!
Rant OFF

Their systems have proved reliable, the price is very competitive. We are running smooth with our Tomcat project thanks to 4java.ca help.
