It's going to take the California DMV "a month" to reprogram its computers to use the new reduced VLF (vehicle license fee) rate. This is the same rate we had til about 6 months ago. One wonders why they can't "cvs update -r PRE_RATE_HIKE"!
Even without that, one wonders why -- when the rate obviously can change -- they didn't decide it'd be good to treat this as an easily changed external variable.
My guess: The DMV computer guy knows it'll take 10 seconds but says "a month" so he can go to Tahiti.
